National
Highway Policy for Canada: Study Reports 1988 - 1992
In 1988
the Council of Ministers agreed to explore the concept and
feasibility of developing a National Highway Policy for Canada.
An intergovernmental Task Force was formed to conduct this
review, and remained active through a four-phase study that
concluded in 1992.

As a result
of this review, in 1988 the Council of Ministers endorsed
designation of a 24,500 km National Highway System as a focus
for the study.
